CareerTech Academy is Conserva® Irrigation’s latest community outreach and industry investment program. This year’s inaugural training, a four-week boot camp of online courses, classroom lessons, and fieldwork, took place in Sarasota, Florida in September.
Jay Gray was selected as the program leader due to his IA certification and 30-year accreditation. At each camp, he prepares 12-16 young men and women for their future careers as irrigation technicians at Conserva. The candidates typically have little to no experience and have not decided to join the military or go to college, but they are mechanically inclined and thoroughly enjoy working outdoors. “I am extremely excited to work with these incredible young men and women as they enter an industry that is very near and dear to my heart,” Jay said. “It is refreshing and rewarding to see their eyes light up as they learn.”
After they complete their training, the cadets begin their employment at various franchise locations. Conserva’s founder and Brand Leader, Russ Jundt, explained that the company launched this program to accommodate their anticipated growth milestones in the coming years. CareerTech Academy will serve as an “industry feeder and training machine” to fill the high demand of semi-skilled labor employees in the 21st century.
